WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: The Court

ALYA:
Today's Afternoon activity would of had to been the most enjoyable and interesting one so far. We had a chance to express the things we hated within are school and how we would want it to change. Soon after we did some play roles where first we acted as people in power ,followed by people asking for change. During that we developed communication skills which could help us in the future if we where to debate and it was nice to see how everyone was engaged and debating for something that really iterated them at school.

WEDNESDAY MORNING: A day like no other

KAROL:
Today morning we have met Architects. Fascinating! The Job itself is really interesting and creative, it includes a lot of maths and art (the two subject I really enjoy) As we entered the building where the meeting occurred, My attention straight away went to the walls which were full of interesting designs which represented the history of it. The mixture of old and new architecture was very interesting, but what attracted my attention the most was a massive dog bed 5 times the size of the bed you sleep on. First thing I thought was “why the heck?” but I’ve been explained that it was used as a place to learn in. They believe that learning is much better when in groups, all confee, relaxing and fun. I can disagree in many aspects but I guess it’s all about opinion and the way someone learns. Although it was a really big building, it felt warm and inviting. We did some really weird exercise in which we’ve been told to come closer to people and put our hands up when we feel awkward. I then realized how much there is to consider when planning and sketching the buildings features. It was an enjoyable trip from which I came back with information which I won’t forget. Who knows, maybe I’ll become an architect one day and this trip has affected my entire life : D

TUESDAY AFTERNOON

NURIA:
After a long trip to the Royal Hospital Museum we went to QM. We had lunch and we were catching a little sun. After we went to see the archives of QM. There was a teacher explaining how we evolute.  I found very interesting because I like history, old things and know how things were in the past. We did an activity that was to investigate. The teacher gave us a sheet with questions, divided into two groups, and each group for each table. On the table were objects and old stuff, where were the answers to our questions. It was really interesting, I was so excited. After we went to see the archive room and what are the conditions to keep them well-maintained. We passed by a room where we saw how the books which require in the library were delivered. After all we went to a room full of computers, to create a blog, based on days when we were in QM, and at the end of the day we went home.

TUESDAY MORNING

NUMAN:

We were about to enter the Royal London Hospital museum. I was history. It was time. We were challenged to go around the different displays and collect information. With Karol writing and me helping it was never going to be easy. Alya hated history so we were the perfect group. We wandered slowly we gathered information and eventually we finished.  This was the end of our day at the museum.
Personally I have enjoyed learning about the different subjects and different aspects of History and Geography. I have learnt about how university life is so independent and free with lesser rules. I have learnt how History and Geography impact and influence so many parts of our lives.

MONDAY AFTERNOON - Building Workshop

SOPHIE:
On Monday afternoon we had a session about environmental issues including many different areas. Each group was given a picture that we had to note down many different issues we would face. Then we had to build a sustainable shelter that suited the environment we was given out of equipment that was needed. Each person was asked to do a particular task within the activity. Our group thought that winner was fair because there shelter was more detailed.

MONDAY MORNING - The start of a great adventure

ARDITA:

It was finally a sunny day in London, when my journey to Queen Mary started. Today was the day we had a chance to see what it’s like to be a university student and I was really excited! Firstly we had to meet our student ambassadors at Eastlea. Their names were Jack, Katie and Sana. Then we were on our way. We arrived early at the venue, which is Queen Mary University, so we were able to get to know some of the ambassadors a bit more and I was quite surprise that the students weren’t very serious people, but very friendly and outgoing. Once other Year9 students from other schools arrived, we were able to start our day.
The organiser of this event, Michael, took us to a small lecture room and explained to us what the summer school is about. To help get to know everyone, Michael got all of us to play an ice-breaker, human bingo. It might sound quite cheesy, but we met a lot of people from other schools.
After that, the student ambassadors showed us around their amazing school campus. The campus is just like a small village with houses and shops. It was great getting to know what the university is about. They had a cafe, a Chinese restaurant if you want to have something ‘authentic’, a huge library, and many more awesome places. But it was quite freaky that there was a graveyard right in the middle of campus, and we saw a huge dead rat. But the great day we had made up for that.

NURIYA:
The things that i found most interesting was on Tuesday when we visited the Royal Hospital Museum and the Queen Mary Archives. The QM is really nice, has a lot of facilities, a lot of places for the students, the students can live in campus (in QM). I think that is really nice.  I learned I lot. The most thing that I really liked was the Campus Tour.
